Gardening By the Yard
To keep a small yard in a well maintained, presentable manner you need a good working knowledge of general gardening. But what you also need is will power and determination to turn your tiny space into a gardening masterpiece!
With a little imagination, any sized garden or yard can be transformed into an attractive centerpiece of floral delight. Your garden by the yard can look absolutely beautiful with adherence to a few simple rules and ideas.
Using the smallest amount of fertilizer possible can actually enhance the vegetation growth. You don’t want to over fertilize such a small area. Once every two weeks you can liquid fertilize. This can actually be more beneficial than granules as it is absorbed more efficiently by leaves. If however you water your yard very frequently or have heavy rain, keep in mind that you will also have to fertilize more often as the nutrients will be depleted.
Another tip for gardening by the yard is strict weeding procedures! Your plants will be competing with the growing weeds for moisture and nutrients, and that is the last thing you want if you want your garden by the yard to last and display its true colors during all seasons.
Spraying weedicide can harm your plants, so I do recommend a wick applicator rather than a spray. This allows for a more targeted application compared to a spray. In a small garden by the yard, accuracy is essential as it is extremely easy to wipe out all the plants in a small area.
Most people remove dead flower heads occasionally, but by doing this on a regular basis, you actually encourage your plants to bloom and to produce more blooms for even longer. Certain flowers such as geraniums gain great benefit from having dead blooms removed. Keep this in mind if your garden in the yard contains theses sorts of flowers.
By following simple steps like the ones I have mentioned above, your garden by the yard will put any large garden to shame with its beauty and vitality!
